Softball set to open 2017 campaign with annual Spring Break Trip in Florida

ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team is set to open its 2017 campaign Mar. 5-12 as it travels to Florida to compete in its annual Spring Break trip, under first year head coach Jackie Mangola.
Times and destinations for the trip have yet to be determined.
The Polar Bears will look to build off a successful 2016 season in which they finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
ONU will open the northern portion of its schedule on Mar. 23 as it travels to Anderson (Ind.) to take on the Ravens in a double header.
The schedule will also feature double-headers at area-rival Bluffton on Mar. 28, Trine (Ind.) on Mar. 29, and a home matchup with Transylvania (Ky.) on Apr. 2.
Ohio Northern will open the home portion and Ohio Athletic Conference portion of the schedule as it welcomes Marietta to the ONU Softball Field for a double header on Mar. 25.
Other OAC doubles headers at home feature John Carroll on Apr. 1, Wilmington on Apr. 11, Baldwin Wallace on Apr. 19, and Heidelberg on Apr. 22.
Northern will travel to OAC-foes Otterbein on Apr. 5, Mount Union on Apr. 8, Muskingum on Apr. 14, and Capital on Apr. 29.
The non-conference portion of the schedule will wrap up on Apr. 24 as the Polar Bears welcome Wooster to the ONU Softball Field for a double header.
The OAC Tournament is slated for May 5-7 at the No. 1 seed.
The Polar Bears finished the 2016 season 24-19 overall and 11-7 in the OAC.
