Newman named OAC Pitcher of the Week for Softball

ADA – Ohio Northern junior Katy Newman was named OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1.

Newman helped lead Ohio Northern to a 3-1 record last week.

She earned her first save in the nightcap of the team's non-conference doubleheader against Adrian (Mich.). She allowed two hits and no earned runs in three innings of relief in the Polar Bears' 4-1 win over the Bulldogs.

To help continue ONU's 4-0 OAC record, Newman (4-2) struck out five batters and allowed just one earned run to pick up the second-game win against Marietta on Saturday.

The Polar Bears (13-5) will look to continue their winning streak as they host Otterbein at 1 p.m. Friday at the ONU Softball Field.
