Men’s Cross Country places 16th of 42 teams at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team raced to a 16th-place finish out of 42 teams at the Louisville Classic on Saturday afternoon at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
In the Silver Race (Pre-Nationals), the Polar Bears (35-19 overall) scored 508 points and posted a total time of 2:12:41.40 and an average time of 26:32:28 on the 8,000-meter course.
Junior Billy Driemeyer (House Springs, Mo./Lindbergh) led the seven-man ONU contingent across the finish line, placing 49th overall out of 341 runners with a time of 25:37.9.
Junior Breydan Hann (Wooster) was the next Polar Bear to finish, placing 91st overall with a time of 26:21.4.
Sophomore Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legace Christian Academy) was 111th in 26:38.5, senior Dylan McKean (Warren/Champion) was 114th in 26:42.0, sophomore Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) was 165th in 27:21.6, freshman Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell Loudon) was 183rd in 27:39.8 and sophomore Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) was 210th in 28:08.2.
Wilmington's Simon Heys won the individual title, finishing in a time of 24:11.4.
No. 5 MIT (Mass.) won the team title with 50 points, as its seven top runners all placed within the top 23, including three in the top 10.
No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) was second with 140 points, No. 16 Emory (Ga.) was third with 142 points, No. 14 Wisconsin-La Crosse was fourth with 169 points and No. 6 North Central (Ill.) was fifth with 172 points.
Mount Union was the top finisher among Ohio Athletic Conference schools at the meet, placing 11th with 398 points.
ONU also had seven runners competing in the Blue Race (Open). The Polar Bears' top finisher in that race was senior Caden Sauerbrey (Dresden/Tri-Valley), who placed 123rd out of 534 runners with a time of 26:27.5.
Ohio Northern's next race is the Oberlin Rumble, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m.
