Digby, Dean, Guzman break school records to lead Men’s Outdoor Track and Field on final day of Bucknell (Pa.) Bison Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Junior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego), sophomore Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) and junior Aaron Guzman (Lebanon) all broke school records to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team on the final day of the Bucknell (Pa.) Bison Classic on Sunday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
On his second throw of the day, Digby posted a mark of 16.88 meters in the shot put, which bested the previous school record of 16.74 meters he set last Saturday at the Manchester (Ind.) Invitational. He ended up placing sixth in the event and added an eighth-place showing in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 54.24 meters, which ranks third all-time at ONU.
Dean bested a field of several Division I runners to win the 400 meters in a school-record time of :47.38. The previous record was :48.00 set by Matt Wolfe in 1997.
Guzman ran a time of 8:43.55 in the 3,000 meters to place eighth in the event, breaking the previous school record of 8:48.78 set by James O'Brien in 2007.
In other action on Sunday, Dean joined seniors Vini Souza (Spencerville) and Ollie Jacobs (DeGraff/Riverside) and junior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) to finish fourth in the 4x400 relay in 3:15.63.
Myers added an 11th-place finish in the 800 meters in a personal-best 1:51.67, which ranks third all-time at ONU.
In the mile, junior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) finished third in 4:23.16, senior Brooks Blakeley (Versailles) was fifth in 4:24.05, and sophomore Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin) was 14th in 4:31.15.
Five Polar Bears competed in events during the Saturday portion of the meet.
Junior Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) placed 36th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:37.47, which ranks seventh all-time at ONU.
Sophomore Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) was fifth in the 1,500 in 3:57.14.
In the 5,000 meters, junior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) was 10th in 15:14.19, and junior Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia) was 12th in 15:15.10.
Senior Brandt Marshall (Orange Twp./Cory-Rawson) was 11th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday when they host the Mike Becraft Invitational.
