Junior Alec Lunney leads No. 24 Men's Track & Field at Mount Union Tune Up

ADA — Junior Alec Lunney (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) led the No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern men's track and field team Saturday afternoon as they competed at the Mount Union Raider Tune Up meet on Saturday afternoon.
No team scores were recorded in the meet.
Lunney led the Polar Bears as he won the 800-meter run in 2:01.80.
Senior Andrew Harden (Dayton/Vandalia-Butler) posted a second place finish in the 1,000-meter run in 2:35.89.
In the high jump, freshman David Harvey (Mechanicsburg) finished tied for third with a leap of 6' 3.50".
Freshman Chandler Holesovsky (Bedford/Cuyahoga Heights) finished fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 11' 0.75".
In the shot put, senior Zane Augustine (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) posted a top-5 finish as he finished fifth with a toss of 46' 9.00".
Sophomore Corey Briggs (Lima/Bath) posted a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash in :53.10.
Juniors Brandon Emert (Brunswick) and Luke Bogdanovich (Akron/Coventry) finished second and third, respectively, in the 500-meter dash in 1:12.25 and 1:12.56.
In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Josh McNutt finished fourth overall in 16:14.54.
"This is a meet where we are really trying to sharpen up for the conference meet coming up," said head coach Jason Maus. "We really help ourselves and give ourselves more options for the OAC's. We had a lot of good conference marks and PR's today and built a lot of momentum moving forward."
Senior Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencervillea) broke his own previous school record in the weight throw at the Ohio State Buckeye Tune Up Meet as he finished fifth overall with a school record toss of 59' 6.25".
Junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) also competed at the OSU Buckeye Tune Up Meet and ran a career-best time of 4:14.22 in the 1-mile run and finished third overall.
His time currently ranks 12th nationally.
"Lucas had a great meet at Ohio State," said Maus. "He threw really well and improved his national mark which is always good. Matt had a PR in the 1-mile run and put himself in a good position moving forward."
Northern returns to the track Saturday as it hosts the Polar Bear Last Chance Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.
