Seven top spot finishes highlight Men's Track & Field's performance at OAC North Meet

BEREA — The Ohio Northern men's track & field finished in the runner-up spot at the 2012 OAC North Split Meet at Baldwin-Wallace's Lou Higgins Center on Friday evening.
The Polar Bears scored 188 points, behind meet winner Mount Union with 201.16 points. Host B-W (137.33 points), John Carroll (103.5 points), and Heidelberg (90 points) followed up in third through fifth places.
Seniors Jacob Schwab and Cory Bailey, and sophomore Francis Pierre-Jerome notched two wins apiece.
Pierre-Jerome won the 55 dash in 6.56 and the 200 dash with a time of 22.87.
Schwab won the 400 dash in 50.19. Bailey took first in the 800 run with a time of 1:57.79, while sophomore Evan McKee finished second in the event in 2:00.23.
Schwab and Bailey teamed up with freshmen Chad Bridges and James Rader for a first-place finish in the 4x400 with a time of 3:24.84.
Other first-place finishes include senior Dan Smith in the 1,000 run (2:34.58) and junior Ben Ankrom in the 1 mile run (4:18.83).
The Polar Bears return to action next Saturday when they host the Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.
