Polack wins two events to lead No. 19 Men's Indoor Track & Field to victory at Friday Night Series #2
ADA - Sophomore Timothy Polack had two first place finishes to lead the Ohio Northern Men's Indoor Track & Field team to victory in Friday Night Series #2 on Friday evening at the ONU Sports Center.
Polack placed first in the high jump with a leap of 6-00.50. He also grabbed first in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.05.
The 19th ranked Polar Bears finished with 241 points while Albion (Mich.) finished with 159 points.
Senior Justin Linzy grabbed a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 20-09.00. He also placed third in the 60-meter dash in 7.18 with sophomore Ryan Fleming coming in first in 7.12.
The 4x200 relay team of Linzy, Fleming, freshman Travis Althouse and freshman Jacob Schwab placed first with a time of 1:32.57.
The 1,000-meter run was dominated by the Polar Bears with three runners placing in the top three. Senior Eric Porter came in first with a time of 2:35.45. Freshman Dan Smith grabbed second with a time of 2:35.46 and senior Thomas Adam came in third in 2:36.71.
The 300-meter dash also saw three Polar Bears finish in the top three. Sophomore Shane Huntley came in first in 36.13 and sophomore Evan Heyman finishing second with a time of 36.31. Junior Joe Amstutz rounded out the top three with a third-place finish in 36.71.
Ohio Northern had a strong showing in the 400-meter dash as freshman Chris Fortson finished first in 52.07 and junior Jeff Otte finished second with a time of 52.54.
Ohio Northern will be in action again next Friday as they host the Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center at 6 p.m.
