Hackenberger wins clinching match as Men's Tennis opens spring break trip with victory over East Texas Baptist, loss to to North Central

Junior Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) posted a 6-4, 6-7(1), 10-5 victory to break a 3-all tie and lift the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over East Texas Baptist on Monday evening on the first day of its annual spring break trip to Florida.
The Polar Bears began the day with a 5-2 loss to North Central (Ill.) on Monday afternoon.

- Sophomore Ethan Remy (Lexington) and freshman Aiden Yeager (Springfield/Northwestern) each won singles courts to lead the Polar Bears.
- Yeager won 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 at No. 1 singles and Remy won 7-4, 5-7, 10-6 at No. 3 singles.
- Junior Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) and freshman Dylan Catanese (Lexington) won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
- The Cardinals won the doubles point by taking courts 2 and 3, then won singles courts 2, 4, 5 and 6 to take the match.
- Four of the singles courts went to a third set tiebreaker.
ETBU Match - W, 4-3
- With the score tied at 3-3, Hackenberger won 6-4, 6-7(1), 10-5 to clinch the match for the Polar Bears.
- After The Tigers won at No. 4 singles to grab a 2-0 lead, Yeager won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to make it 2-1.
- Wood then won 7-6(6), 6-2 at No. 2 singles to tie the match at 2-2.
- Junior Austin Asada (Findlay) then won 7-6(3), 6-4 at No. 6 singles to tie the match at 3-all.
- North Central won the doubles point by taking courts 1 and 3.
- Yeager and Remy won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Notables
- Catanese leads the Polar Bears thus far this season with a 12-6 singles mark and a 21-11 overall record.
- Wood and Catanese are a team-best 9-5 in doubles play.
