Sophomore Tristan Munteanu named OAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Tristan Munteanu (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Feb. 27 to March 5.

This is Munteanu's first career OAC Player of the Week accolade.

The recognition comes after Munteanu posted a 3-1 record against Wooster and Oberlin.

Against Wooster, he won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.

He added a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles against Oberlin.

As a team, the Polar Bears defeated Wooster 7-2 before falling to Oberlin by the same score.

A Second Team All-OAC selection last season after transferring from Whittier (Calif.), Munteanu is 15-8 overall this season, including 7-5 in singles and 8-3 in doubles.

The Polar Bears (3-3 overall) return to action March 12-17 for their five-match Spring Break trip in Florida.
