ADA — Ohio Northern senior tennis player Andrew Cochran (Wooster) was named to the NCAA Division III At-Large Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America for 2022.
The Academic All‐America Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Cochran, an electrical engineering major, was one of 19 members of the Division III Academic All-America men's at-large teams to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA.
CoSIDA named Cochran to the At-Large All-District 7 First Team earlier this season, and he was also an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection for the third time in his career.
Cochran was 12-12 in singles and 19-8 in doubles this season for an overall mark of 31-20 en route to earning All-OAC First Team honors for the second straight year.
In four years at ONU, Cochran is 86-50 overall, including 42-26 in singles and 44-24 in doubles.
Cochran helped the Polar Bears achieve a 23-5 record in 2021-22, setting a single-season program record for victories. The Polar Bears went a perfect 6-0 in conference play to win their 10th OAC Regular Season championship in program history and went on to win their 11th OAC Tournament championship, marking the first time since 2013 that Northern had won either title.
ONU closed the year with an NCAA Tournament victory over Grove City (Pa.) before falling to No. 2 Case Western Reserve in the second round.
