Senior Vinh Thai earns third OAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor of the season

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Vinh Thai (Galloway/Saint Charles) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 18-24.

Thai went 6-0 on the week as the Polar Bears increased their current win streak to six matches with victories of 6-3 over Wittenberg and 9-0 over both Baldwin Wallace and Mount Union. The latter two victories kept Northern unbeaten in OAC play at 5-0.

Thai was 3-0 at No. 2 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles last week to improve to 16-5 in singles and 14-8 in doubles this season for an overall record of 30-13.

He owns a career record of 107-64 and became the 23rd member of ONU's 100-Win Club earlier this season. His 107 victories ranks 18th in program history.

A three-time First Team All-OAC honoree and the 2019 OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year, Thai is now a three-time OAC Player of the Week this season after earning the accolade on March 21 and April 18.

The Polar Bears return to action on Friday as they close their regular-season schedule with a home match against conference foe John Carroll to decide the OAC regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the OAC Tournament.
