Senior Vinh Thai named OAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for second time this season

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Vinh Thai (Galloway/Saint Charles) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 11-17.

Thai went 4-0 on the week, leading the Polar Bears to wins of 8-1 over Otterbein and 9-0 over Marietta.

Against Marietta, Thai earned his 100th career victory in an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, and he notched his 101st win with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 singles.

He is the 23rd member of ONU's 100-Win Club, posting records of 51-29 in singles and 50-35 in doubles for a career record of 101-64.

Against Otterbein, Thai won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

A three-time First Team All-OAC honoree and the 2019 OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year, Thai is now a two-time OAC Player of the Week this season after earning the accolade on March 21.

This season, Thai is 13-5 in singles and 11-8 in doubles for an overall record of 24-13.

The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday for a road match at Wittenberg.
