Sophomore Carson Zurmehly named OAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for sixth time this season

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Carson Zurmehly (Batavia/McNicholas) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 20-26.

This marks his 7th career OAC Player of the Week accolade and 6th this season.

The latest recognition comes after recording six saves in goal in a 1-0 shutout win over Otterbein on Wednesday and recording one save in a 2-2 draw with Mount Union on Saturday.

Zurmehly leads the OAC in shutouts (8), GAA (.750) and save percentage (.786) and is tied for fifth in total saves (44).

In 23 career games in goal, he now has 63 saves and nine shutouts. He ranks tied for 9th all-time in ONU history in total shutouts and tied for 10th all-time in single-season shutouts.

The Polar Bears (10-0-6 Overall, 5-0-2 OAC) return to action on Wednesday when they host Wilmington at Kerscher Stadium at 7 p.m.
