SALISBURY, Md. — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team put up a valiant effort, but fell short 16-7 at #5 Salisbury (Md.) on Wednesday evening on the second game of its spring break trip.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (3-4 Overall), #5 Salisbury (Md.) (6-1 Overall).

The Game
- The Polar Bears put up a valiant fight, staying with the nations's No. 5-ranked team for more than 47 minutes, before eventually falling to the Sea Gulls.
- Senior Nathan Flynn (Springboro) and freshman Jack Switter (Deerfield Beach, Fla./American Heritage Plantation) led Northern with two goals each.
- Sophomore Cooper Mulligan (Middletown/Bishop Fenwick) added one goal and one assist in the contest.
- Three different Polar Bears found the net in the first period as ONU held a 3-2 advantage.
- The Sea Gulls led 8-5 heading into halftime.
- Mulligan opened the third period with a goal, cutting the lead to 8-6 with 12:45 left in the period.
- After two SU goals, Flynn found the back of the net with 2:01 left in the third period to get Northern within 10-7.
- But Salisbury scored the game's final four goals over the final 12:57 to put the game away.
- Sophomore Peyton Lich (Palmyra, N.Y./Macedon) recorded 14 saves in goal for Ohio Northern.
- SU out-shot ONU 55-22 and had the ground ball advantage 47-20.

- Five Polar Bears scored goals in the contest.
- Freshman Ben Gridley (New Hudson, Mich./South Lyon) leads the Polar Bears in points this season with 11 on seven goals and four assists.
- Flynn is second on the team in points with 10 on six goals and four assists.
- Switter is the team leader in assists this season with five.
- Senior Alex Bergeron (Grafton, Mass.) is the team leader in caused turnovers this season with nine.
