Ohio Northern earns USILA Academic Team Award; Ian Roy named USILA Scholar All-America

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team earned the Academic Team Award from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association for 2025.
Senior Ian Roy (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) was named a USILA Scholar All-Americans, marking the sixth time in the past seven years that a Polar Bear has won the honor.
It is the fourth time that ONU has received the team award.
Roy was named Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference this season and is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree. He was also the second player in ONU history to be selected to play in the USILA Senior All-Star Game.
Roy started 19 of 21 games this season and had 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points. He also had 11 ground balls.
In his career, he has 57 points on 28 goals and 29 assists along with 35 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
He now joins former Ohio Northern standouts Cole Zaferakis (2024), John Lynn (2024), Bennett Michel (2024), Ben Wilson (2024), Brian Dalidowicz (2022), Joe O'Connell (2021), Cameron Marous (2020) and Jackson Pfister (2019) to have won the award.
The Polar Bears posted a 16-5 overall record in 2025, breaking the record for most wins in a season. ONU was second in the OAC with an 8-1 league record and won the program's first OAC Tournament en route to its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
