COLUMBUS — Freshman Max Weese scored twice to lead the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team in a 15-5 loss at Capital on Wednesday night at Bernlohr Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 7-3 overall and are 0-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Crusaders improve to 9-3, 1-1.
Weese, freshman Steven Slagle and freshman Anthony Pavone all scored goals as the score was knotted at 3-all with 4:29 left in the first period.
But CU would out-score ONU 7-0 over the next 34:15 until Weese notched his second goal with 14 seconds left in the third period to make it a 10-4 game.
Despite the 7-0 streak, Ohio Northern out-shot Capital 15-14 in the second and third quarters.
Freshman Anthony Pizzaro had 11 saves in goal for ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday at 1 pm when they entertain Muskingum at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
