The Ohio Northern men's golf team finished third of seven teams at the Jimmy Hanlin Golf Classic Sunday and Monday.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern finished third of seven teams with a 33-over par 298-307—605.
- Marietta won the team title with a 296-300—596, Capital was second at 298-306—604 and Westminster (Pa.) was fourth with a 309-304—613.

- Freshman Ian Briars (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) tied for first of 49 golfers with a 6-over par 147 to lead the Polar Bears.
- Junior Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) tied for eighth with a 76-76—152.
- Freshman Dylan Potts (Dublin/Jerome) tied for 14th with a 75-79—154.
- Junior Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) tied for 18th with a 78-77—155.
- Junior Evan Dennison (Ashland/Mapleton) tied for 23rd with a 75-82.
Notables
- Briars lost a three-man playoff on the first hole, as Capital's Keegan Billingham parred the first hole to win Medalist honors.
- Thus far this season, Briars leads the Polar Bears in scoring with a 75.7 average for 1517rounds.
- Dennison is second at 77.8 for 12 rounds and DeSimone is third at 77.9 for 17 rounds.
- This was the third of five tournaments for Ohio Northern this spring prior to the OAC Championships May 2-4.
- ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 413-402-16 in his 12th season at the helm of the men's program, a winning percentage of .507.
