Christy wins Medalist honors, leads Men's Golf to victory at Heidelberg Invitational

TIFFIN - Junior Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) won Medalist honors, leading the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a victory at the Heidelberg Invitational on Friday.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern finished first of four teams with a 22-over par 310 on the par-72, 6688-yard course.
- Heidelberg was second with a 316, Bluffton was third with a 321 and the Tiffin "B" team was fourth with a 327.

- Christy was first of 36 golfers 1-over par 73 to lead the Polar Bears.
- Senior David Walsh (Cincinnati/Moeller) tied for fourth with a 78.
- Senior Andrew Briars (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) tied for 10th with a 79.
- Junior Evan Dennison (Ashland/Mapleton) tied for 13th with an 80.
- Freshman Dylan Potts (Dublin/Jerome) tied for 29th with an 88.
Notables
- Christy won Medalist honors by strokes. It was the first Medalist honor of his ONU career.
- Thus far this season, freshman Ian Briars (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) leads the Polar Bears in scoring with a 76.0 average for 15 rounds.
- Dennison is second at 77.7 for 10 rounds and junior Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) is third at 77.9 for 15 rounds.
- This was the second of five tournaments for Ohio Northern this spring prior to the OAC Championships May 2-4.
- Ohio Northern was schdeuled to co-host the Polar Beaver Classic with Bluffton Friday and Saturday, but the tournament was cancelled due to unplayable course conditions.
- ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 409-400-16 in his 12th season at the helm of the men's program, a winning percentage of .505.
