Freshman Aashir Patel named OAC Men's Golfer of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Aashir Patel (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant)was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of April 16-22.

Patel led the Polar Bears to a record-breaking performance at the DePauw (Ind.) Spring Clash on Sunday.

He was ONU's low man as the team broke the 36-hole record by four strokes with a 586.

Patel finished in an 8-way tie for fifth out of 58 golfers over the par-70, 6448-yard course with a 3-over par 69-74—143.

His first round 69 tied for the fifth-lowest round in school history and his 143 is the fifth-lowest 36 hole total in school history.

The Polar Bears will return to action Friday-Sunday at the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.
