Men's Golf opens 2021 season with third place finish at Pioneer Classic

BEVERLY — The Ohio Northern men's golf team opened its 2021 season with a third place finish at the Pioneer Classic on Saturday at Lakeside Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (0-2-1 overall) tied for third out of four teams with Muskingum with a 308 on the 6308-yard, par-70 course.

Marietta won the team title with a 297 and Capital was second with a 306.

Junior Andrew Slusher (Covington) tied for third out of 37 golfers individually with a 3-over par 73 to lead Ohio Northern.

Junior Nolan Kimberly (Zanesville) and sophomore Josh Steyer (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) tied for 15th with 78s and junior Austin White (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) and freshman Jacob Brooks (New Albany) tied for 21st with a 79.

Marietta's Gage Herb won Medalist honors with a 69.

The Polar Bears will return to action at a second Marietta Classic on Sunday at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.
