Napier scores 20, Scott adds 18 as Men's Basketball drops 70-63 decision at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA — Senior C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick) scored a team-high 20 points and senior Adam Scott (Wapakoneta) added a season-high 18 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team in a 70-63 loss at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night at the Ursprung Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears fall to 6-8 overall and are 2-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 7-7, 3-4.
Senior Michael Berner (Springboro) added eight points and a game-high nine rebounds for ONU.
Baldwin Wallace had three players scoring in double figures, led by Jake Snyder with a game-high 23 points.
Northern used a 12-2 run to grab a 24-13 lead 11 minutes into the first half, but Baldwin Wallace rallied to even the game at 30-all by intermission.
BW led 43-42 with 12:26 left and went on a 13-5 run to grab a 56-47 lead with 7:10 left in the game.
The lead bounced between five and nine points the rest of the game as neither team was able to mount another run.
Northern made 27-of-52 field goals for 51.9 percent and made 5-of-16 from 3-point range for 31.3 percent while Baldwin Wallace made 25-of-53 field goals for 47.2 percent and was 10-of-26 from beyond the arc for 38.5 percent.
ONU was 4-of-7 from the free-throw line for 57.1 percent, and BWU was 10-of-13 for 76.9 percent.
Ohio Northern out-rebounded Baldwin Wallace 32-24.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday with a 2 pm home contest against Muskingum in the first game of the men's/women's double header at the ONU Sports Center.
