C.J. Napier registers another double-double as Men's Basketball falls at Heidelberg 86-76

TIFFIN — Sophomore C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick) recorded his second consecutive double-double as the Ohio Northern men's basketball team fell 86-76 to undefeated Heidelberg on Friday night at Seiberling Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears fall to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Student Princes improve to 4-0, 4-0.
ONU had four with double digit point totals, led by Napier with 21 points and 10 boards.
Junior Brandon Waugh (Columbus/Northland) added 15 points, while sophomores Landen Long (Mason) and Grant Heileman (Millersport/Sheridan) registered 13 points and 11 points, respectively.
Alex Arellano and Emmanuel Perdue led Heidelberg with 20 points each.
After scoring the first basket of the game, the Polar Bears never led again, and trailed 48-37 at the half.
The Student Princes used a 14-0 run run over a 6:19 span to extend the lead to 71-50 with 7:50 remaining in the game.
ONU responded with a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 71-60 with 4:48 remaining, but could get no closer as the hosts held on for the win.
The Polar Bears shot 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from beyond the arc and 54.2 percent (26-of-48) from the field, while Heidelberg was 36 percent (9-of-25) from beyond the arc and 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the field.
Heidelberg won the battle of the boards 31-22.
The Polar Bears will return home Saturday night to complete the home-and-home matchup against the Student Princes this weekend.
