Football falls 33-7 at No. 2 Mount Union in battle of league unbeatens

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern football team fell 33-7 at No. 2-ranked Mount Union on Saturday afternoon in a battle of league unbeatens.
The Basics

The Game
- Junior Jordan Pettaway (Oregon/Clay) banged in from a yard out with 8:21 left in the game to account for the Polar Bear score.
- Senior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 20 times for 60 yards.
- Pettaway finished with 40 yards rushing on 11 carries.
- Senior Sam Feldman (Springboro) completed 11-of-25 passes for 131 yards.
- Senior Kyle Celestin (Miami, Fla./Surge Academy) caught seven passes for 82 yards.
- Mount Union scored twice in the first quarter to lead 14-0 and kicked two field goals in the second quarter to take a 20-0 lead into intermission.
- The Purple Raiders scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter to lead 33-0 after 45 minutes.
- Northern marched 75 yards on 15 plays to open the fourth quarter to pull within 33-7.
- Defensively, senior Cooper Braden (Orange City, Fla./University) had seven tackles (five solo) for ONU.
- Mt. Union was led by Mikey Maloney, who was 15-of-21 passing for 187 yards and three touchdowns.
- The Purple Raiders out-gained the Polar Bears 376-250 in total offense.

- Northern was off to its first 5-0 start in OAC play since 1938.
- Ohio Northern is in second place in the OAC with its 5-1 mark, one-half game behind of #2 Mount Union (5-0).
