Baseball to open 2026 schedule Feb. 28-March 1 at Derby City Classic in Louisville, Ky.

ADA — The Ohio Northern baseball team will open its 2026 season Feb. 28-March 1 at the Derby City Classic in Louisville, Ky., under 15th-year head coach Gene Stechschulte.
Northern will play Carthage (Wis.) on Feb. 28 and Kalamazoo (Mich.) and Spalding (Ky.) on March 1 as part of the Classic.
ONU will then go on its annual Spring Break trip to Florida March 7-15.
Ohio Northern will open their home schedule with Alma (Mich.) on March 21 at Wander Field.
ONU will start Ohio Athletic Conference play on March 28 when they host Marietta.
Ohio Northern also has non-conference home games scheduled with Wittenberg, Ohio Wesleyan and Transylvania (Ky.) and will travel to Bluffton, Albion (Mich.) and Denison on the non-league schedule.
The Polar Bears' remaining OAC doubleheaders include home matchups with Otterbein (April 8), Capital (April 18) and Heidelberg (May 2) and road games at Muskingum (April 3), Mount Union (April 11), Wilmington (April 22) and Baldwin Wallace (April 25).
The OAC Tournament is slated for May 7-9 at the home of the regular-season champion.
In 2025, Northern posted a 29-14 overall record, finished second in the OAC with a 13-3 record, finished second in the OAC Tournament and made it to the NCAA III Regionals.
