Taylor McCabe leads Women's Swimming & Diving to sixth place finish at 10-team Wooster Invitational
WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team (4-2 overall, 2-0 OAC) finished 6th of 10 teams with 908 points at the Wooster Invitational Thu.-Sat.
NCAA Division II schools Edinboro (Pa.) and Gannon (Pa.) finished 1-2 with 1656.5 and 1467 points, respectively, while Wooster was third with 1161 points.
Freshman Taylor McCabe (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) led the Polar Bears with three top-10 finishes at the meet.
McCabe placed fourth in the 200-yard breast in 2:27.95, was seventh in the 400 I.M. in 4:46.39 and was 10th in the 200 I.M. in 2:13.54.
Junior Amy Elmer (South Milwaukee, Wis.) had the two best individual finishes by coming in second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with scores of 379.30 and 373.25, respectively.
Sophomore Adriana Jones (Mentor) was seventh in the 1-meter diving (276.70) and was sixth in the 3-meter (259.20) and freshman Katie Lorson (Hilliard/Darby) was eighth in the 1-meter diving with a score of 226.15.
Sophomore Lindsey Rayhill (Springfield, Ill./Glenwood) was ninth in both the 100 fly (:58.87) and the 200 fly (2:10.43).
Sophomore Kasey Manko (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) was fourth in the 100 breast in 1:08.33, was sixth in the 200 breast in 2:33.95 and also had three top-10 finishes as part of ONU relay teams.
Sophomore Jennifer Hartsel (Algonquin, Ill./Crystal Lake South) was seventh in the 200 breast in 2:34.48.
Junior Mackenzie Hoffman (Strongsville) placed as apart of four ONU relay squads.
ONU will return to action Sat. at home against OAC Swimming & Diving newcomer Defiance.
