CLERMONT, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team falls to 6-4 overall on the season after falling to Hanover (Ind.) 5-4 and Catholic (D.C.) 2-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
Northern was led on the day by senior Amanda Lahti who went 3-for-7 with a sacrifice fly.
In the contest with Hanover, the Polar Bears got on the board first as Lahti scored the games first run.
Hanover responded in the bottom half of the inning plating two runs to take the 2-1 advantage.
Sophomore Anna Martin would score the game tying run in the fifth inning as she would reach home on a single from sophomore Jenna Hollar.
Northern would take the lead again in the sixth inning as freshman Hailee Loughman would score on a single from sophomore Gia Saturday.
Hanover continued to battle as they would score the game tying run following an ONU miscue in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In extra innings, Northern would score first before a walk-off single from Hanover in the bottom half of the inning would win the game 5-4.
In the late game, the Polar Bears found themselves trailing early as Catholic would plate the games first run in the top of the third inning.
The Cardinals would continue its offensive success as they plated another run in the top of the fifth to win the game 2-0.
The Polar Bears return to action Friday as they take on Webster (Mo.) and Johnson and Wales (R.I.).
