All-American Jackie Mangola named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in Softball for 2011

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Jackie Mangola (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) was named Honorable Mention Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in softball for 2011 in voting conducted by the league's 10 faculty advisors.
A health and physical education major, Mangola was also named First Team All-America, First Team All-Central Region, First Team All-OAC and was the OAC Player of the Year in 2011.
She is now a two-time NFCA All-American, earning First Team All-America as a sophomore in 2010.
Mangola is also three-time First Team All-OAC award winner and is the first Polar Bear to be named OAC Player of the Year twice in her career.
She was also named Honorable Mention Academic All-OAC in 2010.
Mangola set ONU single-season records with 21 home runs, 37 walks, a 1.140 slugging percentage and a .627 on-base percentage this season.
She also led Ohio Northern in batting average (.491) and total bases (130) and was second on the squad with 49 runs scored and 60 RBI. has started all 144 games in her career at second base.
Mangola is ONU's all-time career home runs leader with 41 and ranks third in RBI (154), is fourth in base hits (179) and is fifth in doubles (37).
The Polar Bears went 27-14, won the OAC Regular Season title with a 14-4 mark and participated in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2011 under first-year head coach Kim Burke.
