Volleyball moves up to No. 20 in ninth weekly AVCA poll

ADA – Ohio Northern moved up two spots to No. 20 in the ninth weekly American Volleyball Coaches Association poll on Tuesday. 

The Polar Bears received 331 points in the poll, 20 more than the 311 total points they received when ranked No. 22 in last week's poll. 

ONU was ranked No. 23 in seventh poll, No. 19 in the sixth poll, No. 17 in the fifth poll, No. 16 in the fourth poll, No. 15 in the third poll, No. 20 in the second poll, No. 18 in the first poll and was No. 19 in the preseason poll.

Northern went 2-0 last week with wins at Otterbein and Mount Union to claim a share of its third consecutive OAC Regular Season title and is the No. 1 seed in this week's OAC Tournament.

Calvin (Mich.) is atop the poll with 1738 points and 65 first place votes, Johnson & Wales (R.I.) is second with 1626 points and two first place votes, and Wittenberg is third with 1592 points and three first place votes.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday night when they host Marietta in the quarterfinals of the OAC Tournament at 7 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
