ADA — Senior Josie Andres (Sunman, Ind./East Central) and junior McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) were named to the All-Tournament team as the No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team defeated Defiance and Case Western Reserve on the final day of the 40th Annual ONU Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears recorded their second and third consecutive victories to improve to 3-1 on the year.
Northern made short work of area-rival Defiance as it swept the Yellow Jackets behind a game-high nine kills from Jordan. Andres added seven kills for the Polar Bear offense, while hitting a blistering .778.
Sophomore setter Katie Wade (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) led the way with a game-high 35 assists.
The contest with Case Western Reserve went the distance but Northern was able to fight back from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 victory.
Wade racked up a career-high 64 assists in the victory and added 14 digs to complete the double-double.
After falling behind 2-0, Northern responded with an impressive third set to spark the comeback.
A 9-0 run midway through the set allowed ONU to take a 15-7 lead as it went on to claim set three.
A kill from Andres in the fourth set capped a 7-0 run the broke a 4-4 tie to put Northern ahead in the set for good.
After scoring four of the first five points of the final set, Northern would go on to claim the victory over Case Western.
Northern will return to the court on Wednesday evening as it welcomes Denison to the ONU Sports Center for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
