Senior Ellen Grenert named All-Great Lakes Region, Honorable Mention All-America in Volleyball for 2012

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Ellen Grenert was named All-Great Lakes Region and Honorable Mention All-America in volleyball for 2012 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

She becomes the 17th Polar Bear to be named All-America in the history of the storied ONU volleyball program.

Grenert is also a two-time All-OAC honoree and led the Polar Bears in kills this season with 293 and in hitting percentage at .305 as an outside hitter.

She finished her career with 775 kills, 614 digs and 132 blocks and had double figures in kills 36 times in her three seasons at ONU.

Grenert is majoring in exercise physiology.

The Polar Bears went 24-7 overall, finished third in the OAC with a 7-2 mark and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament in 2012 under 22nd-year head coach Kate Witte.
