GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Ohio Northern women's tennis team saw its season come to a close with a 5-0 loss to #14 DePauw, Ind. in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon at the Blackstock Courts located on the campus of DePauw University.
The Polar Bears ended its season 21-4 overall, while #14 DePauw moved to 15-8.
DePauw, with the win, will move on and play the winner of Wisconsin Whitewater and Hope, Mich. on Saturday in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
"Its disappointing to fall short today, but Coach Alexander and I talked about leaving it all on the court and the ladies did just that," said head coach Scott Wills. "The ladies made for a great year of Polar Bear tennis."
The Tigers pounced early as they claimed courts one and two of doubles action to go up 2-0.
The Tigers continued its dominance in singles play as they claimed courts one and six en-route to the 5-0 victory.
Senior Michelle Tuma concludes her career as a Polar Bear with an overall record of 54-58 in singles play and 77-45 in doubles play. During her career at ONU she has posted a school best 46 wins at number one singles, finished third all-time in school history in doubles with 77 wins and sixth all-time in total wins with 131.
The Polar Bears finished its season 21-4 overall, 8-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and claimed both the regular season and Tournament Championship.
