Women's Basketball drops 76-50 decision at John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS —The Ohio Northern women's basketball team dropped a 76-50 decision at John Carroll on Saturday afternoon at the DeCarlo Center.

Senior Jenna Dirksen (Beavercreek/Carroll) led ONU (6-3 overall, 1-3 Ohio Athletic Conference) with nine points.

The Blue Streaks (6-3, 3-1) were led by Nicole Huffington with 15 points.

JCU opened the game on an 11-0 run and led 23-8 just 8:08 into the contest.

Ohio Northern went on a 10-2 run to rally within 35-31 by halftime.

The Blue Streaks out-scored the Polar Bears 19-9 in the third quarter to take a 54-40 lead and put the game away  with a 22-10 fourth quarter.

ONU was 20-of-56 from the field for 35.7 percent and made 4-of-22 3-pointers for 18.2 percent.

JCU made 27-of-60 field goals for 45.0 percent and was a blistering 14-of-26 from 3-point range for 53.8 percent.

Senior Tori Wyss (Ada) added eight points and freshman Lexi Jacobs (Wapakoneta) scored seven points for Ohio Northern.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 pm game at Heidelberg.
