DELAWARE — Senior Carly Thomas and sophomore Amy Bullimore led the No. 23 ranked Women's Basketball team past Ohio Wesleyan 80-43 Saturday afternoon at the Branch Rickey Arena.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-2 overall, while the Battling Bishops fall to 1-10.

Bullimore recorded a team-high 14 points in the contest for ONU, while Thomas added 12 points and scored the first six points of the contest.

Sophomore Courtney Cramer chipped in 10 points for Northern.

Northern opened the contest on a 6-0 run, led by Thomas, to take the early lead with 7:08 to play in the first quarter.

The Polar Bears would put together another run late in the quarter as efficient free throw shooting by Cramer would give ONU the 15-11 first quarter advantage.

The second quarter started much of the same as Thomas connected from three with 7:31 to play to cap an ONU 7-0 run and extend the lead to 22-11.

With just over a minute to play till the break, senior Karissa Steffas would get a rebound off an Ohio Wesleyan miss and find Thomas in transition to put Northern on top 30-18 at the break.

The Polar Bears would extend their lead once more in the third quarter as a steal and a fastbreak layup by juniot Britt Lauck would give ONU the 53-25 advantage with 2:15 to play in the quarter.

Northern would end the quarter on a 10-0 run to push its lead to 59-25.

ONU continued to dominate in the fourth quarter as a layup from Bullimore with 7:31 remaining would cap another ONU run and extend the lead to 68-27.

The Battling Bishops looked to get something going late but were unsuccessful as the Polar Bears continued to run on all cylinders.

Northern would out score Ohio Wesleyan in the fourth quarter 21-18 en route to the 80-43 victory.

The Polar Bears return to action Wednesday as they resume Ohio Athletic Conference play with Mount Union, tip off set for 7:30 pm.
