Jason Maus is in his tenth season as the head men’s and women’s cross country and track & field coach at Ohio Northern.

In his nine seasons at ONU, the men’s teams have a 978-213 record, a winning percentage of .821, and six Ohio Athletic Conference crown's, while the women’s teams have compiled a 781-353 record, a winning percentage of .689, and have won six OAC titles.

In 2017, the ONU men finished with a 126-37 record and placed first at the OAC Championships and the women were fourth at the OAC Championships and finished with a 94-37 record.

Maus led the Polar Bear cross country teams to dual OAC Championship titles and a combined 236-61 record in 2011, as the men went 103-33 and the women went 133-28.

Maus and his coaching staff have also been named Women's Coaching Staff of the Year in 2010 and 2011 and Men's Coaching Staff of the Year in 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Maus was named the All-Ohio Division III Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2015 after guiding Northern to a first place finish at the All-Ohio Championships.

He led the 2016 squad to its second best ever finish in school history at the NCAA III Championships in Louisville, Ky., as Northern finished finished 14 of 32 teams before his 2017 squad finished 19th of 32 teams and saw one All-American.

Maus guided the men's cross country team to its third consecutive OAC title in 2017, the first time a cross country team has won three titles in a row in school history.

He is no stranger to the Polar Bear program as he was also as an assistant cross country and track & field at ONU from 2002-08, where he coached the distance runners and was the recruiting coordinator.

He came to ONU from Heidelberg, where he was a three-time Academic All-American in track and cross country.

Maus was a two-time OAC Champion in track and a two-time All-OAC honoree in cross country.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Heidelberg in 2002 and his master’s degree at Bowling Green State University in 2005.

Maus was part of the OAC Women’s Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2008 and Men’s Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

Maus is in his second season as Division III President of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

He also serves as a lecturer in the business college at ONU. Maus is USATF Level I and Level II certified in distance and throws.

He and his wife, Lindsey, live in Ada with their sons, Hayden and Jackson.
