ADA — An impressive all-around performance by the Ohio Northern men's soccer team resulted in a 9-0 win over Cincinnati State Community College at Kerscher Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

ONU moves to 1-0-1 on the year, while CSCC falls to 0-1-0.

Sophomore Beelal Hasan (Westerville/Thomas) and freshman Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) each contributed two goals to lead the way for Northern.

Hasan also added an assist for a 5-point match.

The Polar Bears got on the board in the 6th minute with a goal scored by senior Joseph Schulte (Copley) following a deflection.

Hasan then netted his first goal in the 16th minute to make it 2-0.

ONU struck twice in the 40th minute.

Following a pass from freshman Matt Studenic (Wadsworth), sophomore Jacob Scheufler blasted a shot from 25 yards out to beat the keeper.

Twenty-three seconds later, freshman Dylan Beck (Englewood/Northmont) found fellow freshman Bryan Kern (Rocky River) to put the lead up to 4-0 at the half.

Northern then scored four goals from the 58th minute to the 67th minute.

Studenic, Hasan, senior Anthony DeNoi (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), and King all extended the lead for ONU.

King added his second goal in the 76th minute with an assist from Schulte to conclude the Polar Bear scoring.

Ohio Northern's defense dominated throughout the contest as it did not allow a shot or corner kick, tying NCAA and school records in both categories.

Senior goalkeeper William Velotta (Gates Mills/Gilmour Academy) was credited with his first career shutout.

ONU recorded 41 shots and an astounding 24 corners in the match.

The Polar Bears will return to Kerscher Stadium for their next match against Hope (Mich.) on Sept. 7. The game is part of the ONU Invitational and is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
