    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Liz Schnelle drilled 19 kills and No. 8-ranked Ohio Northern defeated Williams (Mass.) 25-16, 25-14, 25-10 in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament quarterfinals Thursday night at Illinois Wesleyan's Shirk Center.

    ADA — Senior setter Katie Weininger and junior Liz Schnelle have both been selected AVCA Division III First Team All-America as chosen by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee.

    This is the first time that either volleyball player has been named First Team All-America. Schnelle was Third Team All-America last season and Weininger was Honorable Mention All-America.

    Weininger and Schnelle are now the second the third Ohio Northern volleyball player to earn the award.

    ADA — Senior Ryan Smith (Miamisburg) and junior Chris Corrado (Cincinnati/Saint Xavier) were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men’s soccer for 2008 in voting conducted by the league’s 10 faculty advisors.

    Smith was also named First Team All-OAC and OAC Defender of the Year earlier this season.

    A biology/pre-med major, Smith is anchoring the ONU defense from the center back position that has allowed only 18 goals all season while dishing out two assists as well.

    ADA - Junior midfielder Kaitlin Sanders (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) has been selected ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America in Women’s Soccer for 2008 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

    She was also named First Team Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-District IV this year.

    As a sophomore in 2007, Sanders was named Third Team Acdemic All-District as well as First Team Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference.
