ONU Softball Field
The ONU Softball Field is the home of the Ohio Northern varsity
and junior varsity softball teams. It was opened for use in the
spring of 1982 and includes an enclosed press box and dugouts make
the facility player and media-friendly during inclement
weather.
The facility has seen numerous improvements during its history -
many in the last few years. The outfield fence was moved in from
its original 235-foot distance to the more standard 200-foot
distance to all fields in 2002. Also, a new infield surface was
installed, replacing the turface/dirt mixture that tended to get
very hard during dry spells.
In 2005, a new Daktronics scoreboard was installed to help players
and fans keep abreast of the action on the field. Ohio Northern won
an Ohio Athletic Conference record of 35 straight home games from
1985-87 and won 50 consecutive regular season home games from
1983-87.
