    SPRINGFIELD -- Kurtis Brown scored a game-high 18 points and Ezra Bradshaw added a career-high 16 to lead Ohio Northern to an impressive 78-62 non-conference men's basketball victory at Wittenberg Wednesday evening at the Pam Evans Smith Arena.

    The Polar Bears improve to 4-1, while the Tigers fall to 1-3.

    ADA — Juniors Rick Ingold (Newark) and Eric Wenzler (Springboro) and sophomore Kyle Simmons (Orrville) were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in Football for 2008 in voting conducted by the league’s 10 faculty advisors.

    Ingold was named Academic All-Conference and Wenzler and Simmons were Honorable Mention honorees.

    Ingold and Wenzler were named CoSIDA Academic All-District IV earlier this fall.

    CINCINNATI — The Ohio Northern wrestling team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 22-16 non-conference victory at Mount Saint Joseph Tuesday night at the Harrington Center.

    The victory is the second of the season for the Polar Bears over the Lions (4-8), as ONU topped MSJ 24-11 at the Olivet Duals on Nov. 22.

    With the score tied at 16-16, senior Drew Michel and sophomore Joe Fisher won at 197 and heavyweight, respectively, to put the match away for the Polar Bears.

    ADA - The Ohio Northern men's soccer team has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America College Team Academic Award under the direction of 11th-year head coach Brent Ridenour.

    The Polar Bears had a team grade point average of 3.08, surpassing the 3.0 GPA that is needed to be recognized.

    Ohio Northern was one of 104 men's soccer teams from all divisions of the NCAA to receive the award.
