Nov. 27, 2007 By Patrick Massara ADA The Ohio Northern wrestling team traveled to Tri-State University on Tuesday night and left with a 19-16 victory. The Polar Bears improve to 2-3 overall (1-0 OAC), while the Thunder fall to 7-5. Northern was led by Josh Bordner’s pin of the Thunder’s Matt Perry at the 1:29 mark at 165 pounds. No. 4-ranked Ben Plowman defeated Tri-State’s Nick Kraus with a 7-3 decision in the 174 pound weight class. Both Border and Plowman imrove to 3-2 on the year. David Penny remains undefeated at 125-pounds as he defeated Levi Mundy with a 12-3 decision in the night’s first match. Penny improves to 5-0 on the year. Following Penny’s win, giving ONU a 4-0 advantage, Lance Hassell won a 5-4 decision at 149 pounds to give ONU the lead back at 7-6. After Hassel was A.J. Coleman. Coleman also recorded a win with a 3-1 decision at 157 pounds giving ONU a 10-6 advantage. Border’s pin at and Plowman’s decision added to Northern’s lead to put them ahead 19-6. That was all ONU would need in order to defeat the Thunder. The Polar Bears will next be in action when they host the ONU Invitational on December 15. The Invitational will begin at 9am.
