Mar. 7, 2008 By Alyssa Ahlers WESTERVILLE Freshman Aubrie Stechschulte broke another school record to lead the ONU womens track and field team to third place after the first day of the OAC Championships. Vaulting 10-09.5, Stechschulte scored third place in pole vault, earning All-OAC honors and breaking her previous record of 10-08 set Feb. 1, 2008 by herself. This is her third record-breaker this season, alone. The womens distance medlay placed third overall, with a season best time of 12:44.94, 13 seconds faster than their previous best time. These All-OAC members included freshman Amy Davis, sophomore Kayla Barga, freshman Amanda Binkey, and sophomore Rachel Smith. Junior Regina Bresson clocked in at 11:02.01 to earn her season best in the 3,000-meter run, which placed her fifth. In the pole vault, freshman Jessica Naderer tied her season best of 10-05.5 to finish fifth place. Sophomore Janelle Jansen placed seventh in both the pole vault and long jump with a vault of 10-01.5 and jump of 16-04.25. In the preliminaries for the 55-meter dash, junior Abby Schulte qualified seventh, clocking in at 7.57. The Polar Bears are in third place with 24 points, only trailing Capital with 28 points and Baldwin-Wallace with 25 points. Due to the inclement weather, the start has been pushed back on Saturday to accomadate team travel. The field events are scheduled to begin at 3 pm with the first running final to start at 6:45 pm. |
