Feb. 25, 2008 By Tim Glon ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. The Ohio Northern women's tennis team posted a pair of convincing 9-0 victories Monday at the San Lando Tennis Center. The Polar Bears (7-3) defeated Southeastern (Fla.) and Warner Southern (Fla.) by 9-0 scores. Southeastern falls to 5-4 and Warner Southern drops to 0-3. Freshmen Liz Bajsuz and Jacqualine Sammon led the Polar Bears with victories at No. 1 singles and a pair of victories at N. 1 doubles. Against Warner Southern Monday evening, Bajsuz won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Sammon won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and the pair combined for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. In the first match of the day, Sammon won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Bajusz won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and the duo won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Kristen Timperman and senior Betsy Brichler also won twice in singles play. Timperman won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles against Warner Southern and won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles against Southeastern, while Brichler won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles against SU and won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles against WSC. Ohio Northern will wrap up its spring break with a match at Webber International (Fla.) at 9 am on Wed. |
