Bukowy leads Lady Polar Bears on final day of Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — Freshman Hannah Bukowy finished third in the 200 breast, leading the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team on day three of the Wooster Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Polar Bears finished in seventh place in the 11-team invitational with 586.5 points.

Wooster won the meet with 1,608 points, Allegheny (Pa.) was second with 1,143 Case Western Reserve was third with 1,002.5 and Oberlin was fourth with 945.

Bukowy was third in the 200 breast in 2:34.45. Janelle Cain was seventh in the event in 2:38.13, Amanda Lovell was 18th in 2:43.36 and Jessica Heidrich was 23rd in 2:51.16.

Sara Oswald was 10th in the 1650 free in 19:50.69.

Kim Randall and Kathryn Heagle were 13th and 20th in the 200 back, finishing in 2:20.61 and 2:25.03, respectively.

Katherine Moore was 14th in the 100 free in :56.97 and Jillian Huber and Cassandra Fennell tied for 20th in :57.75.

In the 200 fly, Luisa Chinchilla was 19th in 2:34.97, Robin Linkenheil was 20th in 2:37.59 and Delaney Banas was 21st in 2:38.35.

The 400 free relay team of Randall, Fennell, Huber and Moore finished eighth in 3:49.44.

The Polar Bears will return to action during the Christmas holiday break Dec. 27-Jan. 6 at Delray Beach, Fla.
