Ohio Northern wins five events at season-opening OAC Relays

WILMIGNTON — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team won five events at the season-opening Ohio Athletic Conference Relays Saturday afternoon at Wilmington.

The meet was non-scoring.

Hannah Bukowy was part of three winning teams while Janelle Cain, Jillian Huber, Katherine Moore and Kim Randall each posted two firsts and a second to lead the Lady Polar Bears.

Fennell team with Jillian Huber, Renee Campbell and Kathryn Heagle to win the 200 breakstroke in 2:14.82.

Cain joined teammates Katherine Moore, Sara Oswald and Kim Randall to win the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:21.99.

Fennell and Randall were the first and fourth legs, with Amanda Lovell and Samantha Ruffing the middle legs of the victorious 250-meter freestyle team. ONU won the event in 2:42.14

The team of Cain, Huber, Ruffing and Bukowy won the 200 meter breaststroke in a time of 2:35.63.

The fifth win came in the 100-meter freestyle where Bukowy, Campbell, Caitlin Fanello and Atlantis Richter took the event in 59.07.

Moore and Bukowy team with Garrett Dauch and Adam Lill to also win the mixed 200-meter relay.

The Polar Bears will be back in action next Friday when they travel to Wilmington at 6 pm.
