Mark Batman
Head coach Mark Batman is in his fourth season at the helm of the Ohio Northern women's soccer program.

Batman is the fourth head women's soccer coach at Ohio Northern University after starting at ONU in the spring of 2004.

In 2007, Batman led the Polar Bears to an 8-0-1 mark in the OAC and their first OAC regular season title since 1998.

ONU also advanced to the OAC Tournament for the third time in Batman's four years.

Batman was named OAC Coach of the Year in 2007.

He succeeded Annette Hunt-Shepherd, who coached the Polar Bears from 2001-03.

Batman also serves as assistant softball coach and is a lecturer in ONU’s Human Performance and Sport Studies department.

Batman comes to Ohio Northern after assistant coaching stints at Savannah (Ga.) Arts and Design, Dubuque (Iowa) and his alma mater, Wilmington.

The Yellow Springs, Ohio, native served as assistant men’s soccer coach and assistant sports information director at Savannah A&D in 2003.

The three losses in 2006 were the second fewest in school history.
From 2001-02, Batman was a graduate assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Dubuque and served as assistant men’s soccer coach at Wilmington in 2000.

Education: Batman graduated from Wilmington with the BS degree in sports management from Wilmington in 2000 and earned the MA degree in physical education from Loras (Iowa) in 2003.

Batman also holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma.

Batman was a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree at Wilmington, earning First Team All-OAC kudos in his junior and senior seasons.

He was selected First Team All-Great Lakes Region and the team’s MVP as a senior in 1999.

Batman helped his team to two Sweet 16 appearances at the NCAA Division III Championships and a national ranking as high as No. 12.

Assistant Coach Annette Hunt-Shepherd

Assistant Coach Caitlin Carducci
Annette Hunt-Shepherd completed her fourth season as an assistant women’s soccer coach after serving as head coach for three seasons.

She also serves as the head softball coach at ONU and is a lecturer in the ONU human performance and sport sciences department.

Hunt served as interim head softball coach in 2004 and as an assistant with the ONU softball team from 2001-03.

As head women’s soccer coach, Hunt-Shepherd posted a 23-31-1 record in three seasons.

She played softball at the University of Maryland and helped the Terps to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship as team captain in 1997.

She batted leadoff and played first base for the Terrapins and was voted the Academic Player of the Year at Maryland in 1997.

Hunt-Shepherd also played for one year at Shippensburg in 1995 and played two years at Miami (Ohio) in ‘93 and ’94.

She also played on the United States Kayak/Polo Team in 2000.

Hunt-Shepherd graduated from Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in 1997 and received her master’s degree from Frostburg State (Md.) in 2003.

She resides near Ada with her husband, Jeremy. They have one daughter, Skye.

Caitlin Carducci completed her first season as assistant women’s soccer coach.

She came to ONU after an outstanding soccer career at Ashland University. She ended her career with 26 goals, which is sixth all-time in school history.

Caitlin was a three-time All-GLIAC and a three-time Academic All-GLIAC honoree. She also led her 2003 and 2004 teams to the NCAA Tournament including a Final Eight appearance in 2004.

Caitlin is in her first year at the Petit College of Law at ONU.


Assistant Coach Angie Dunbar
Angie Dunbar finished her first season as assistant women’s soccer coach. 

Angie was a two-year letterwinner for the women's soccer team at Capital University in 2002 and 2003.

She is in her second year at the Petit College of Law at ONU.
