Women’s soccer remains perfect in OAC with win at Wilmington |

Oct 17, 2007 By Mike Seem WILMINGTON Sophomores Angie Pisut and Kaitlin Sanders each scored goals and senior goalkeeper Barbie Krieger had another solid performance to lead Ohio Northern’s women’s soccer team to a 2-1 vicotory over Wilmington. ONU improves to 9-4-1 overall and an all-time best 6-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while Wilmington drops to 10-5-1 overall and 3-3 in the OAC. Northern took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute of the game when Sanders pushed the ball past Wilmington keeper Casey McKinney off a pass from junior Kristin Reininger. In the 79th minute, Northern added to its lead when Pisut beat the goalie near post for her team-leading 11th goal of the season. With just four and half minutes remaining, Wilmington’s Kristin Elam scored to complete the scoring. Krieger had three saves in the game, giving up just the one goal, while McKinney had five saves for Wilmington. Both teams had 11 shots and Wilmington had a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks. With the victory Ohio Northern has guranteed itself a trip to the OAC Tournament for the second straight season. Ohio Northern returns to action this Saturday when it faces Mount Union at 2 p.m. at the ONU Soccer Field in Ada. |
