Endres' goal in double overtime lifts ONU past John Carroll 1-0

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Junior Amy Endres headed in a corner kick in the 105th minute to give the Ohio Northern women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over John Carroll Saturday night in the OAC opener for each team.

The win evens the Polar Bears record at 4-4-1 and bumps them to 1-0-0 in the OAC. John Carroll falls to 0-1-0 in the OAC and 4-6 overall.

Neither team could manage a goal through regulation as each team's defenses stood strong.

ONU's goalkeeper Barbie Krieger made eight saves for the game while JCU's Michelle Zrebiec stopped seven shots.

In the first overtime, Zrebiec stopped the only ONU shot of the period to forced a second OT.

In the second overtime period, ONU sophomore Jenn Klag played a corner kick at into the box where Endres was waiting to head home her first goal of the season

JCU held a 14-10 advantage on shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

The win was the second straight for the Polar Bears over the Blue Streaks.

ONU continues OAC play this Thursday when it host Heidelberg at 4 pm.
