DANVILLE, Ky. — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell to Centre (Ky.) 2-0 Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Centre Showcase at the Centre Soccer Complex.

The loss was the first for the Polar Bears (1-1) in their last 11 road games.

Centre's (1-1) Erin Menard opened the scoring in the first half at the 16:18 mark when she took a pass from teammate Elizabeth Hooper and knocked it past Polar Bear keeper Barbie Krieger from 22 yards out.

The Colonels would add their second goal when Brittany Cox recorded her first goal of the season at the 33:30 mark of the first half. Centre led 2-0 at halftime and would hold the lead throughout the second half.

Centre was the more aggressive team, outshooting ONU 16-8 and took three more corner kicks.

Krieger finished the game with six saves while Colonel keeper Rosie McAuley stopped the only shot she faced.

ONU returns home for their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 5, when they host NCAC-power Ohio Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
