Pisut, Davies score twice as Polar Bears blank Anderson (Ind.) 6-0

ADA — Sophomore Angie Pisut and junior Emily Davies each scored twice to lead the Ohio Northern women’s soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Anderson (Ind.) on Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-3 with the victory, while the Ravens drop to 1-5-1.

Pisut scored from eight yards out off a through ball from sophomore Jamie Eiben to give Ohio Northern a 1-0 lead just 2:50 into the game.

Four minutes later, Jamie Eiben gave the Polar Bears a 2-0 advantage at 6:56 off a cross from junior Erin Stapp.

Pisut scored her second goal of the game and eighth of the season 18 seconds later at the 7:14 mark off an assist from junior Jennifer Klag, four seconds shy of tying the school record for fastest goal.

Junior Emily Davies came off the bench and scored her first goal of the season from 10 yards out off a pass from freshman Natalie White at the 21:29 mark and the Polar Bears held a 4-0 lead at the half.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Stapp recorded her second goal of the season from 13 yards out off a through ball from Eiben, giving Eiben her second assist of the game.

Davies completed the scoring at the 68:47 mark off a cross from senior Laura Childerson.

ONU outshot Anderson 24-3 and held a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Senior Barbie Krieger had one save for ONU in the first half. Freshman Lauren Roberts came in after the half and went untested. Anderson keeper Kelsey Alcorn recorded six saves for the game.

“This was a great game for us.” said head coach Mark Batman. “But now we have to get ready for Friday.”

The Polar Bears travel to Cincinnati on Friday to take on Mount St. Joseph at 7 p.m.
