Apr. 12, 2008 By Tim Glon HARROD The No. 16-ranked Ohio Northern women's golf team finished fourth of 16 teams with a 366 at the fifth annual Lady Polar Bear Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Colonial Golfers Club. The tournament was shortened to 18 holes as Sunday's second round was cancelled due to expected poor weather conditions. The weather was cold, wet and windy on Saturday, with rain, sleet and windy contidions causing wind chills to drop near freezing. Sophomore Persha Ford and senior Meagan Brennan led the Polar Bears (72-9 overall), finishing in a five-way tie for fifth place with 88s in the 83-women field. Ford earned All-Tournament Team honors via a scorecard tiebreaker. The top six players earned All-Tournament Team honors. No. 8-ranked Otterbein won the tournament with a 350, No. 24-ranked Franklin (Ind.) was second with a 356, No. 10-ranked Allegheny (Pa.) was third with a 361, the Ohio Northern B team was fifth with a 382 and Baldwin-Wallace was sixth with a 386. Freshman Lauren Miller finished 22nd with a 94, senior Amy Gillen was tied for 27th with a 96 and sophomore Megan Russell tied for 37th with a 99. Freshman Ashley Johnson led the Ohio Northern B team to a fifth place finish, tying for 10th with an 89. Katie Tewell of Franklin took Medalist honors with a tournament record 5-over par 77. Allegheny's Laura Burkholder had a hole-in-one on the 159-yard par-3 fourth hole.
