By Steven Wright WESTERVILLE No. 13 Ohio Northern volleyball swept Otterbein on the road as every available player saw action in the 30-15, 30-18, 30-25 victory Tuesday evening at the Rike Center. The Polar Bears are now 17-4 (3-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) while the Cardinals drop to 3-18, 0-2. Ohio Northern has now sealed up its NCAA-record 31st consecutive winning season with the victory. Offensively, Laura Vuyk had nine kills, Liz Schnelle had eight kills and Abby Schaller and Lindsey Pruneski each had seven kills. Pruneski got all seven of her kills in the third game of the match along with three digs, two blocks and a .500 hitting percentage. Katie Weininger played the first two games against the Cardinals and had 24 assists with five kills on seven attempts and no hitting errors. Mandi Fought and Vuyk each eclipsed the 20-dig mark in the match with 29 and 20 digs, respectively, and Liz Decima added 13 digs in the back row. In Game 1, Ohio Northern hit .444 while hitting an amazing .500 in Game 2. The Polar Bears ended the match hitting for a total of .385. Northern will be in action again on Tuesday, Oct. 9 vs. OAC-foe Baldwin-Wallace at 7 pm at the ONU Sports Center. |
